A blocked arrow puzzle rarely means there is no move. It usually means the valid move is visually disconnected from the arrow you are trying to free. The solution is to convert the board into a dependency chain.

The four-step unblock method

  1. Choose a target. Pick a central arrow or a piece that crosses several crowded lanes.
  2. Find its first blocker. Trace from the target’s arrowhead until another line stops the route.
  3. Inspect the blocker. Follow that arrow’s own direction and identify what blocks it.
  4. Clear in reverse. When the chain reaches an open arrow, remove it, then work backward toward the original target.

Example dependency chain

A right-facing arrow is blocked by a down-facing arrow. The down-facing arrow is blocked by a left-facing edge piece. The edge piece has a clear path. Remove left first, down second, and right third. The board looked fully blocked only because you began in the middle of the chain.

What if the chain seems to loop?

You may have selected the wrong first blocker, or another arrow outside the zoomed area may cross the lane. Zoom out, check the whole route, and start from a different high-value target. Use board zones so you do not repeatedly trace the same cluster.

Separate strategy from visibility

Sometimes the next move is conceptually obvious but the alignment is hard to read. Turn on a grid guide or pinch to zoom. If the issue is genuinely “I cannot find any valid arrow,” use a hint. If one known piece is holding the whole cluster closed, an eraser may be the more direct booster.

Avoid the random-tap trap

Random taps spend hearts without giving you a reusable method. If a blocked tap happens, note the exact crossing you missed. Then trace that blocking arrow instead of trying a nearby piece.

The key question

“What blocks this arrow?” is more useful than “Which arrow looks easiest?”

Practice on dense boards

Arrow Puzzle: Arrows Escape scales through 1,000 levels and supports pinch-to-zoom, hints, erasers, and grid guides. With no timer pressure, you can trace the dependency chain carefully and learn the pattern.
